No Leaks, No Worries

The real need for datacide

Datacide

Here is the reason why you need datacide. You probably know already that deleting a file doesn't really delete it because you can visit the Recycle Bin on your desktop and get it back. Well, it's similar even at the lower levels of data storage systems. When you "permanently" delete a file the disk simply removes the marker for the location of the file, but not the file itself. Why? Because it takes time to overwrite the file. It's much more efficient to just cut off the head. Even Microsoft Window's format doesn't completely erase the data because there is no overwriting. It simply checks that every part of the disk is in working condition and tells you it's ready to be rewritten with your files. But that doesn't remove the data completely. Sensitive data such as customer, financial and health information are to be protected under U.S. law. It is up to the company to make sure that their data is secured and has been permanently erased.

Eliminating your data security liabilities is a permanent part of our equipment processing. Depending on the level of data sensitivity, we can either do a 1-pass or 3-pass overwrite which fully complies to the U.S. Department of Defense security requirement 5220.22-M. Call us to find out how we can help you eliminate your data security liabilities.
